Private health insurance is definitely one of those things that can take a seriously gigantic bite out of your monthly budget! Especially if you are also looking for additional benefits, such as vision and dental. Obviously when it comes to our health we all want the best coverage that we can find, but at what cost?

We received the following question from one of our amazing readers:

Currently 3 out of 5 of us in my family have contacts and boy do they add up! ?My husband suggested looking for some type of stand alone insurance for dental and vision. ?His thinking is paying a monthy premium may be better than paying out right for contacts, exams, etc.? Just for a point of comparision we went to Sam?s this year because they had the cheapest eye exam?s ($59) but for all three of us to get exams and contacts it is just shy of $600 for the year . . .a current pair of RX glasses would have been nice but not in the budget.

What are some of the best options that you have found for private heath insurance, especially vision and dental plans? Head down to the comment section and share your thoughts with all of us!

Don't forget to get the Bargain Blessings toolbar to print coupons and stay up to date on all the latest deals!

Astrobiology Roundup II

Life in all it's glory... (Credit: C. Scharf)

It?s been a busy season for research that comes in under the astrobiology umbrella, here?s a smattering of some of the more interesting recent discoveries and studies.

?

?

?

The youngest solar system?.so far.

A true baby - a dark disk of matter extends above and below in this image of L1527 IRS (Credit: Nature and Tobin et al. 2012)

Locating and studying the birth of stars and planets is an enormous challenge, but a vital component in learning about the pathways to systems like ours and the billions that must exist across the Milky Way.

Apart from being shrouded by light-absorbing gas and dust, baby solar systems change rapidly. To go from the glint in the eye of a core of condensing nebula to a star ready to fully fire up its nuclear engine takes the equivalent of 7 hours in human terms (100,000 years for a star like our Sun) compared to a total stellar lifetime. That?s a fast gestation. It also means that you have to be clever and lucky in order to catch one of these baby systems in its earliest stages.

A recent study by Tobin et al. published in Nature (preprint here) manages just that. Peering into a nascent system with millimeter and submillimeter wavelength telescopes they find what appears to be a 300,000 year old object. This proto-star has not yet finished accumulating all its eventual mass from a rain of interstellar material, but it already seems to be surrounded by a disk of matter about seven times the mass of Jupiter ? fertile ground for new planets. This system, L1527 IRS, is about 460 light years from us in the Taurus cloud nebula and will be a fascinating and important reference point in the future.

The origin of life?as software?

Understanding the mechanics of life?s origins here on Earth has been vexing us for, well, for as long as you care to mention. Nonetheless in recent years a wealth of new insights have come from studying the complex behaviors of chemical systems, the multi-purpose functions of structures like proteins, and the possible combination of RNA and proteins to build ?proto-life?. Somewhere in all of this may be clues to how ?raw? chemistry made a transition to what we?d consider ?life? ? an admittedly somewhat ill-defined change, but it?s our current paradigm.

Now to add a new spin to all of this, Walker and Davies propose that more can be learned about this transition by considering the use of information ? the software rather than the hardware of life. In essence they argue that the flow of information ? stored data, signals and so on, can distinguish between abiotic chemical systems and biotic, ?living?, systems. In other words, there should be a difference in the logic of a system, in its organization, that can point us to the actual chemistry involved.

It?s intriguing, although I personally find myself a little uncomfortable with the hints of vitalism in this way of thinking ? that life is somehow truly distinct from other phenomena, not so much part of a continuum of processes and complexity. Time will tell where this all goes?

The hydrocarbon Nile

The river runs north (Credit: JPL/NASA/Caltech/ASI)

Finally, yet another astonishing discovery from the Cassini mission to Saturn (dollar-for-science probably one of the most cost-effective missions humans have ever built). This time it?s a high resolution radar map of Titan?s northern polar region that shows an extraordinary river system, replete with a delta-like outlet to a sea of liquid hydrocarbons.

The topography and geometry of this river (seen as a dark, non-radar-reflecting feature) suggests that it may in places be following a fault line on Titan?s surface ? the equivalent of many terrestrial rivers and our boring silicate and carbonate planetary crust. Although the processes forming the fault are probably not the same as those from Earth?s plate tectonics.

Altogether this system spans about 200 miles, and the fluid of the river and northern sea is thought to be a mix of ethane and methane.

My only question is ? are there crocodiles?

You can see the full map here.

Frigid Winter Forecast for Eastern US (Thank Siberia)

SAN FRANCISCO ? Brrrrrrr! That might be the sound on the lips of everyone in the eastern United States, if a new weather prediction model's forecast for a cold winter proves accurate.

And why will it likely be cold? Blame snow in Siberia. The extent of Siberia's October snow cover affects weather patterns in the Arctic, enough to shift winter temperatures in the United States, Europe and East Asia, said Judah Cohen, director of seasonal forecasting for Atmospheric and Environmental Research (AER), a Verisk Analytics company.

Called the snow advance index, or SAI, the model measures the rate of change of Siberia's snow cover. When snow cover advances rapidly in October, the upcoming winter will be more severe in the eastern United States, Europe and central Asia. Conversely, a slow-moving advance of snow cover means a mild winter for the same regions. The index model also incorporates sea level pressure anomalies and sea surface temperatures from the equatorial Pacific Ocean, where the El Ni?o/Southern Oscillation arises.

Snowy steppes

With normal snow cover this October in Siberia, and an SAI of 2.19 (a high value on the 0 to 4 SAI scale), the model forecasts cold weather through February for the United States from the Rockies to the East Coast, Cohen said here last week at the annual meeting of the American Geophysical Union. The West Coast will have higher temperatures, as will Alaska.

But even cold-hardy Alaskans are complaining about the unusually bitter weather so far, counter to the model's prediction. An omega block, a center of atmospheric pressure sitting over the Bering Sea, is keeping the state at below-freezing temperatures. According to the National Weather Service, November 2012 was the sixth-coldest November for Fairbanks on record.

"When the Arctic Oscillation is negative, as it is now, Alaska is supposed to be warm, but it's not," Cohen told OurAmazingPlanet. "The North Pacific seems to be doing something separate from what would normally happen," he said.

Predicting Arctic weather patterns

The SAI helps predict the Arctic Oscillation, a large-scale weather pattern that affects circulation in the atmosphere at northern latitudes. When the Arctic Oscillation is in a positive phase, air pressure is higher over the United States, keeping cold air in the Arctic. A negative Arctic Oscillation draws frigid Arctic air into the United States, bringing lower temperatures.

The model's forecast is holding up better for Europe, Cohen said. Northern Europe, including Britain, is facing a cold, snowy season, but southern Europe should be warmer than average, according to the model's forecast.

Last winter, AER successfully predicted colder than normal temperatures for the eastern United States, with warmer than normal temperatures in the high Arctic latitudes.

Historically, scientists have considered the Arctic Oscillation to be a result of chaotic behavior and therefore unpredictable, Cohen said. "No forecast is ever going to be 100 percent right, but there is a useful fraction of the Arctic Oscillation that is predictable, and it would be a huge improvement for seasonal forecasting in large parts of the hemisphere," he said.

Show more - Business Networking Events - New York, Atlanta ...

"When I arrived at the event it was already jumping! I managed to connect with about 15 people in 40 minutes, I followed up promptly and had 2 appointments scheduled the next day. I would recommend Networking for Professionals' events to anyone looking to increase their contacts and connections. Amanda was warm and welcoming."

Christopher C. Welber, Managing Consultant at Laymantech.com

"These events were my first, as I'm new to NFP...and I must say that the outcomes in both cases were positive in a way that exceeded my expectations. Much of the credit for the success of both events, from an event planning standpoint, stems from the yeomanry and general helpfulness of Amanda Nissman (at the downtown NYC High Speed Networking event) and Sherrie Kaufman (at the inaugural Hoboken Shakers & Stirrers event). I give my thanks to both of these ladies, and to NFP, for making it possible for me to meet and connect with so many new potential business partners and professional contacts, which obviously made my investment of time a worthwhile one."

Alan Gray

"I always find Networking for Professionals events to be a breath of fresh air! The diversity and accomplishments of the attendees amazes me, and people are generally there to build serious long-term relationships. I've met several people at these events who have played a key role in building my contact list, and introducing me to a great deal of potential business. The atmosphere at the events is relaxed and friendly, and I find Amanda to be a perfect hostess!"

Principles Of Stand-Up Wrestling - ramgopall987456ramgopall987456

To be a very good wrestler, it?s good to know the rules of stand-up wrestling. Basically, it all starts on the feet. That you must know the proper positions. It?s essential to be in the most effective condition, so that you will be able to undertake essentially the most efficient and efficient wrestling postures. These are the positions or postures that you need to be able to defeat your opponent. By figuring out these postures, you will be able to anticipate your opponent?s move and put together for his attacks.

?On Your Ft?

Strictly speaking, being on your feet in wrestling would require you to have your elbows in, chin tucked, knees bent and lead leg forward. You want to just be sure you hold your arms near your body. This may assist protect you towards having your opponent grabbing onto your arms and taking management of the fight. All the time preserve your arms close to your body. Don?t simply allow them to dangle on your sides or your front. You?ll want to have your opponent work for it. Wait in your opponent to extend his arms in order to grab you. Inadvertently, this can depart him open to your attack. This is whenever you take the chance to attack him.

?By no means Take Your Eyes off Your Opponent?

Rule of the thumb in relation to wrestling: Never Look Down! Do not look at the floor. Wherever the head goes, the physique follows. You should also avoid trying up because this position exposes your throat. Stand-up wrestling requires quick thinking. You need to know find out how to mess together with your opponent?s head. An excellent wrestler will likely pull his opponent?s head in different directions simply so to get a response out of his opponent. Having your head manipulated this way messes with a wrestler?s focus and stability. This is the reason it is important that you have a strong neck. That is the place neck workouts help a lot.

?Saddle Your Opponent Your Weight?

Your opponent is your mule when you find yourself contained in the ring. You must let him carry your weight. Should you weight 600 lbs, then saddle him with each pound. Do not forget that wrestling is about ?wrestling management? away out of your opponent. You might want to be in control, so you?d be capable to hook him. You could anticipate his moves, so that you will know methods to respond. That is the way you win in opposition to your opponent.

Who Owns Your Health Data?

HIPPA only applies to health care providers. Anyone else who gets your data by any means, is not restricted by HIPPA. Notable examples are life insurance companies. You sign a waiver to give them access to your health info to qualify for a policy. After that they can do whatever they want with the data. They can, and do, routinely pass it along to a medical information clearing house in Massachusetts (I forget the name of it), which is a third party. The clearing house dishes out the information (including personal identifying information) to anyone who wants to pay for it.

Americans imagine that they own their personal data. Data (information, facts) are not property and can not be owned. Intellectual property laws bestow some rights but not "ownership" You can own the rights but not the facts. If you could own facts, then you could prevent police and courts from using facts about your behavior against you.

Records, on the other hand are ordinary property. Whoever owns the records can treat them like any other property, regardless of the information they contain (exceptions for national security, for parties covered by HIPPA, records under subpoena and so on). There was once a notable case of a hospital in Las Vegas. They rented a warehouse to store paper patient records. They failed to pay the rent. The landlord sold all property stored in the warehouse to recover money owed to him. Neither the landlord, nor any subsequent owner of those paper records was restricted in any way as to what they could do with them.

Nest Learning Thermostat

As a longtime homeowner I can honestly say that I've never given much thought to the lowly thermostat. I've installed two or three over the years and never paid more than $45 for a basic programmable model, and the last two I installed (more than ten years ago) still work perfectly. So when I was asked to install and review the Nest Learning Thermostat ($249 direct), I jumped at the chance to see what all the fuss was about, but was admittedly skeptical given the Nest's lofty price tag. As it turns out, this "next-generation thermostat," as the company calls it, is one of the coolest products I've had the pleasure to review. It will likely become a permanent fixture in my home?if I can find one on the cheap, that is. It's an easy Editors' Choice for home automation devices.

Design and Features
Most traditional thermostats use nondescript rectangular white plastic housings and feature small monochrome LCDs with multiple program buttons and dials. The Nest, on the other hand, is housed in a round glass and brushed metal enclosure that oozes style. Measuring 3.2 inches in diameter and 1.3 inches thick, it resembles a high-tech hockey puck.

The clean design allows for no buttons or dials; the stainless steel outer ring provides all the functionality you'll need to set up and program the device. Simply press the ring once to bring up the menu, turn it left or right to toggle through menu choices, and press it again to select your choice. The same goes for programming temperature settings, heating and cooling times, and for configuring network and heating system settings. The Nest connects to your wireless network, so once you've performed the initial setup you can open a free Nest account and manage everything over the Web or from your Android or iOS phone or tablet.

The Nest may be tiny but it's jam-packed with cool technology, including activity sensors, a Wi-Fi radio, three temperature sensors, and a humidity sensor (you can also use the Nest to control a whole-house humidifier/dehumidifier system). ?

The activity sensors are used to activate the Auto Away feature, which shuts down heating and cooling after an hour or two of inactivity to conserve energy. ?I particularly like the energy history feature, which tracks daily heating and cooling usage. You can view daily usage on the Nest display or get a colorful graphical monthly report via the Web app. This can be very useful if you're looking for ways to reduce costs, as it shows the length of heating (or cooling) times per day and if you're running in an energy efficient manner. The Nest also collects real-time local weather information that it incorporates into the energy report to explain why usage may vary from day to day.

The Auto Schedule feature is ideal for users who don't program their thermostat and instead simply turn the heat on or off when needed. The Nest senses your presence and displays the current room temperature along with the desired setting. The reading is illuminated by white backlighting and is set against a black background. If you turn the ring to the left, the temperature readout will decrease incrementally and the background will turn blue to indicate cooling. Rotating the ring to the right raises the temperature incrementally and turns the background red to indicate warming. In order to help you save money, a green leaf will appear when you set the temperature to a level that is considered energy efficient, say, 68 degrees.

The Nest learns your heating and cooling habits over the first week of use. Simply set your heat/AC temperature at the same time each day for a week and the Nest will create a schedule based on this usage. Once the schedule is created you can still make arbitrary changes from time to time (one-offs) and the Nest will stay the course. You can change the schedule at any time using the Nest's ring, but it is much easier to do online. If you can't be bothered to take the time to let the Nest learn, you can always create your own schedule with the robust Web app.

Installation
The Nest will work in most dwellings that employ a two- or three-stage heating/cooling system. My home uses a typical two-wire low voltage setup for heat (I don't have central air conditioning) so installation was a snap. After removing my existing thermostat, I used the optional trim plate to cover the rectangular patch of old paint on the wall and connected the red wire to the base's W1 (heating) terminal and the white wire to the Rh (power) terminal. If you're doing this yourself, make sure you know which wire is your power (hot) wire or you may damage the unit and your heating system. After checking the built-in level to make sure the base was straight, I screwed the base and the trim plate into the wall and snapped on the Nest unit.

Once snapped into place, the Nest lights up and enters setup mode, which includes language, internet settings, heating and cooling, location, and temperature screens. You can toggle through menu options by turning the outer ring and pressing it down to select an option. After selecting a language (English, Spanish, or French) it scans for an available Wi-Fi network. It found mine and connected within seconds once I entered my security key. After checking for and installing the latest updates it took me to the heating/cooling menu, which shows you which equipment is connected to the base and which terminals are wired. You then select the type of fuel (gas, electric, propane, or geothermal) and type of heating system (forced air, in-floor radiant, or radiators) you use.

Scandals: #4 General David Petraeus affair

The resignation of CIA Director David Petraeus, one of the more respected public figures in America after overseeing the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, also placed highly on our list. An FBI investigation revealed that Petraeus was having an affair with his biographer, Paula Broadwell. The story eventually tied in Florida socialite Jilly Kelley (who had received threatening e-mails from Broadwell), a shirtless FBI agent, and Gen. John Allen, who exchanged thousands of e-mails with Kelley.

Egypt's Muslim Brotherhood sets constitution showdown for tomorrow

Egypt's Muslim Brotherhood and President Mohamed Morsi have shrugged off protests and decided to bring Egypt's constitution standoff to a head, tomorrow morning.

By Dan Murphy,?Staff writer / November 28, 2012

Anti-Mursi protesters chant anti-government and anti-Muslim Brotherhood slogans as they gather at Tahrir Square in Cairo, Nov. 27. Opponents of President Mohamed Mursi rallied in Cairo's Tahrir Square for a fifth day on Tuesday, stepping up calls to scrap a decree they say threatens Egypt with a new era of autocracy.

The Muslim Brotherhood announced that the country's constituent assembly will hold an up or down vote then on a new draft constitution that has roiled Egyptian politics for months. If it passes a body that appears packed with Islamist politicians, most of those from the Brotherhood, the constitution will then be put to a national referendum. One caveat is that, in the coinage of political scientist Marc Lynch, Egyptian politics since Mubarak have resembled Calvinball, with rules and deadlines and statements shifting constantly. ?

Nevertheless President Mohamed Morsi, the Brotherhood politician who became the country's first freely elected president last June, appears committed to his current course. He's gambling the move will defuse an increasingly tense situation on the streets of Cairo. In the past week he's boldly (or recklessly, depending on your point of view) moved to break the constitutional impasse.

At the end of last week he issued a decree removing judicial oversight from the process, since he feared Egypt's judges would nullify the constituent assembly much as they'd nullified the election of parliament in June. That move had secular political forces warning that he was setting himself up as a dictator. The Brotherhood shot back that it was only a temporary move to ease passage of a constitution.

A sprawling constitution

But the constitution was the real issue all along. Secular Egyptians feared that Morsi and his Islamist allies were crafting a basic legal text that would move the country starkly in the direction of Islamic law, and argued that it was being drafted by a group that was far from representative of Egyptian society. From their point of view, they've been given two options: Live with Morsi holding all executive and legislative power, with broad immunity from judicial interference to boot; or, approve the constitution he favors.

Politicians on the assembly like Amr Moussa, a former foreign minister and Arab League chief who unsuccessfully ran for president, complained in recent weeks they weren't being given anywhere near sufficient time to review an ever-changing, expanding document, that at last count had over 230 articles.

Drafts of the sprawling constitution have been filled with vague, at times contradictory language, while also calling Islamic law (sharia) "the" basis for Egyptian law rather than "a" basis, a crucial distinction. Further, they've envisioned a role for the unelected Islamic jurists of Al Azhar University in settling some constitutional matters.

What precisely will be voted on tomorrow? At this point, it's unclear. Egyptian newspapers are reporting more changes made in the past few days, including one report that a change has enshrined the military's controversial power to try civilians in military courts in some circumstances. In the absence of a clear public document with a chance for the public to review, rumors will fly and confusion will reign.

What will happen next??

The Brotherhood, responding to the over 100,000 anti-Morsi protesters who gathered in Tahrir Square yesterday, has been calling for a "million man march" on Saturday in support of the president and his constitutional moves and to "protect the achievements of the revolution." The anti-Morsi protesters, many of them the original organizers of the protests and marches that drove Hosni Mubarak from power in February 2011, have vowed to be on the streets Saturday too. It's an explosive situation, with many analysts and activists in Cairo warning that it could come to blows.

Where is the military in all this? Unclear. But if there is chaos on the streets, the chances of the military returning to the open role in Egyptian politics that it only recently vacated can't be ruled out.

And what of the referendum? Issandr El Amrani, a keen analyst of Egyptian politics, is worried, pointing out that Egypt's judiciary, which veered toward open revolt against Morsi in the past few days, is key to the organization of Egyptian elections.

"Even if it's approved tomorrow, there has to be a referendum on it. Victory is not guaranteed and a referendum will take at least a couple of weeks to organize. The supervisory commission to run it would be difficult to form, because it has to include senior judges who would likely boycott it, and judges are supposed to also be present at polling stations. All this points to a royal mess, a constitution that has no legitimacy among a big part of the public, and gives the opportunity to the Salafis ? whose votes the Brothers now need to approve the latest draft ? to introduce modifications to the text."

The Salafis are the Islamist faction that, when it comes to the role of women in society and the overall interpretation of the sharia, are to the right of the Muslim Brotherhood.

For the moment, it looks like the Muslim Brotherhood, which has long been the best organized popular political force in the country, has won this round.

But at what cost for Egypt and its stability?

(AP) ? A Colorado jury acquitted former Denver Broncos cornerback Perrish Cox of sexual assault charges on Friday, a verdict that was met with disbelief by the alleged victim.

Cox was accused of sexually assaulting a woman at his apartment in September 2010 after a night of partying. She became pregnant, and prosecutors said DNA tests indicated Cox was the father.

Cox hugged his attorney after the verdict was read, while the alleged victim let out an audible sigh and a cry. As she was leaving the courtroom, she said, "Oh my God, what's happening?"

Cox expressed appreciation for his attorney, Harvey Steinberg, and others who supported him during the trial.

"I love my lawyer and everybody else who's been," with me, he said.

Steinberg had disputed the DNA test results and suggested they may have been contaminated. During the cross-examination of witnesses, he tried to paint a picture of drunkenness and of the alleged victim being able to interact with people without remembering.

"We always felt there were substantial holes in the case," he said after the verdict. "We had hoped they (the jury) would see those same holes."

Jurors left the courthouse without commenting.

The woman's attorney, Craig Silverman, said she still believes she did the right thing by going to police, and she doesn't want other sexual assault victims to be discouraged from coming forward.

"There was wrongdoing and dishonesty by Perrish Cox and his teammates," he said. "The truth is not changed by this verdict. Perrish Cox knows what he did."

Cox denied having sex with the woman, who testified that she believed she was drugged because she remembers little about what happened.

Cox was charged with one count of sexual assault while the victim was physically helpless and one count of sexual assault while the victim was incapable of determining the nature of the conduct. He faced two years to life in prison if convicted.

Prosecutors had laid out what they believed was a straightforward case. They cited the DNA evidence, as well as testimony from Cox's teammate, Demaryius Thomas, who said he saw Cox carry her onto his bed and say, "she's ready."

Prosecutor Chris Gallo said Cox's statement showed what state of mind he was in. Gallo told jurors that Cox expected to have sex with another woman at the apartment, Carthy Che, who testified she was sick. And there was the alleged victim, lying on his bed and "ready."

Jurors heard from the alleged victim on Wednesday. Cox did not testify, but jurors on Friday saw a portion of an interview with detectives conducted the night he was arrested.

In the video, Lone Tree Police Department Detective Steve Hipp informs Cox that his DNA indicates he impregnated the woman. Cox then sits back and says, "Are you serious?"

"I never raped nobody," Cox told the detective as both spoke in loud voices. "I'm losing it because, seriously, I never touched this girl."

The interview ends with Cox asking: "I'm going to jail? You're kidding me. What am I supposed to do? I didn't."

Cox also told the detectives that Che, who he was dating at the time, was also at the apartment. He said he could have had sex with her if he wanted sex.

Prosecutors never explained whether they determined if the woman had been drugged, saying that wasn't necessary to proving the case. Steinberg, however, argued that she may have been an experienced drinker, admitting on the witnesses stand to having 21 drinks on her 21st birthday, and that she was drunk at the time but able to walk and talk to people without remembering.

While the woman only remembers passing out on the air mattress in Cox's living room, Cox's teammate and roommate who was at the apartment that early morning, Cassius Vaughn, told Thomas that the woman had sex with Che that morning, according to testimony.

Steinberg raised the question to the jury, that if she didn't remember walking away from a nightclub and talking to people two blocks away, which she said she did on the witness stand, or climb up three flights of stairs on her own, then she may not have remembered having sex that night.

Steinberg criticized Deputy District Attorney Chris Gallo and Assistant District Attorney Bob Chappell for not calling Vaughn to the witness stand to explain his statement about "girl on girl action."

"Where is he? Steinberg asked the jury during closing arguments. "Are they afraid of the truth?"

Afterward, Gallo said he didn't believe Vaughn's testimony was essential to their case.

"There are certain things that we have to prove and we put on the evidence that we thought would prove" our case, he said. "What goes on in a jury room, for a very good reason, nobody really knows."

Vaughn did not return a message left by The Associated Press.

Cox, 25, was a rookie out of Oklahoma State who had played eight games for the Broncos when he was arrested.

His legal troubles capped a tumultuous time for the Broncos, who had dealt with the drive-by slaying of cornerback Darrent Williams on New Year's Day 2007, running back Damien Nash's fatal heart attack in March 2007 and receiver Kenny McKinley's suicide in September 2010.

Cox's agent, Jordan Woy, said he has spoken to several interested NFL teams.

"We expect for him to move forward in his NFL career," Woy told The Associated Press in an email. "Perrish is looking forward to focusing on his life both personally and professionally."

The Broncos said they had no comment on the verdict since Cox no longer is with the organization.

International business investment opportunities in Iceland on the ...

Over the past couple of years, Iceland has started to see a rising interest from foreign businesses wanting to invest in the country. These businesses have either acquired stakes in Icelandic enterprises or made strategic purchases in production and services related to their own international activities.

The growing number of investments is due to the fact that Iceland has systematically made its business environment increasingly attractive for foreign investors and organisations. The country?s investor-friendly environment supports high professional standards and makes it an ideal base for large and small companies.

??r?ur H. Hilmarsson, Managing Director of the Invest in Iceland Agency, commented, ?With renewable energy at very competitive prices, well-educated labour, low corporate taxes and efficient placement between Europe and the USA, Iceland meets many requirements which are most relevant for foreign investors.?

Investments in Iceland need to meet certain requirements, such as being beneficial for the country?s economy and society, in terms of job creation, rural development, export and tax revenues. However, approved investment projects receive benefits in return, including derogations from taxes and charges.

Investment projects can also be eligible for exemption from customs and excise duties on importation or domestic purchase of construction materials, machinery, and equipment for the building and operation of the investment project.

In addition to these benefits, real estate in Iceland has seen a 10 percent increase in sales over the past year, and figures for the market in 2012 are expected to increase further. Larger more expensive property is being sold and there has also been greater demand for property in the downtown area of Iceland?s capital, Reykjavik.

CLICK | Comic Book and Movie Reviews

Have you ever wondered why technology and religion always appear to be very strange bedfellows? One is a concept of science. The other is an aspect of history. And together, they just clash. Exactly like this film in fact ? one Directed by Frank Coraci; and Starring: Adam Sandler, Christopher Walken, David Hasselhoff, and Kate Beckinsale. It was made in 2006; and lasts 100-minutes.

Click (Special Edition)

THE STORY:
Now it is a very sad thing to say, but surly architect, Michael Newman (Adam Sandler), spends more time prepping work for his boss, John Ammer (David Hasselhoff), than he does having fun with his wife, Donna (Kate Beckinsale), and kids.

However, one evening, when Michael goes to the shopping mall to buy a universal remote control for his television set, he meets a stock room attended called Morty (Christopher Walken), whom gives him something that he desperately needs.

A remote control? Err ? yes and no. You see, what Morty gives Michael isn?t just any normal remote control, oh no. It?s a special remote control that he can use to pervert time with, as he sees fit.

For example: Michael can fast forward time when he does not want to have sex with his wife, or take a shower. He can mute Donna?s friends? voice, Janine (Jennifer Coolidge) when she shouts at him for his bad behaviour. He can go back in time and witness his Mum, Trudy (Julie Kavner), and Dad, Ted (Henry Winkler), do the nasty. He can skip forward in time so that he does not have to ?be present? during a family gathering. Plus on top of that, he can even change the language of prospective Japanese clients, so that he can ascertain what they need with a proposed project.

Great news, right? No - afraid not. Because amidst all of this ?tampering with time?, the remote control begins to determine that Michael only uses this device whenever he is in trouble. So what does the remote do next? Yes ? regrettably ? it gets stuck on auto-pilot, and commences to pre-empt Michaels next demand.

Well, that is why it thrusts Michael three month into the future, due to a prompting of a possible job promotion. Then, is does the same things once more! But not for just three months ? oh no ? ten years ? when Michael becomes CEO of the company he works for.??

Now obviously Michael is greatly deterred by these strange turn of events, and he does whatever he can to smash the remote control (which does not work) and ask Morty for help (which does not work either). Worst still, is by this time Michael is a fat b*stard with a heart condition, his son looks like Jonas Hill, his daughter has tits, and his wife is married to another man.

Shit.

Therefore, that is why what next transpires happens after another time shift. As death leads to revelations ? marriage leads to acceptance ? and a new life dawns in the dreams of the old.

Click?

THE REVIEW:

My God! What a f*cking b*stard of a movie! There I was, just sitting back and watching what I though to be just another ?Adam Sandler? comedy ? but suddenly ? boom ? it kicked me right in the teeth and made me cry like a baby.

Now I do not mean this in a bad way about ?Click? of course ?? because any film than can make me feel is a good film in my book. Nevertheless, it is the way that this film creeped up on me, which made it so bloody deceiving.

You see, it start?s off with a somewhat jovial pretext, when Adam?s character is given a remote control by Christopher?s character, so that he can play about with in a very charming way. Next, after some fun is had by Adam?s character, the pretext changes a bit, and starts to gradually become more sinister with the whole ?time shift? scenario. After that ? pow ? the pretext takes out a baseball bat and smashed you in the face full on ? blatantly relaying the underlining message of what this movie is all about (cherish the time you have with your loved ones). And finally, following a good weep, the pretext relinquishes it grip of your heart, and gives you a conclusion that is one half groan-worthy, and one-half relief (making you feel somewhat strange inside).

Please note, all of what I just said is to be taken in a positive way ? as ?Click? is a very cleverly constructed film, which has been devised in such a way, that it takes us ? the audience ? on a roller-coaster ride of an adventure. Moreover, the cast are great (especially the Hoff and Walken), the message is very poignant (it made me cry), and the special effects are not that bad either (like a video game in drag).

However, there were three slight things about this movie, that I was not too pleased about. Firstly, the name of this film, ?Click?, does not really sell it for me ? because it does come across a silly throw away ?tag line?. Secondly, there is a rather jagged tone to the overall film ? especially in the ?time shift? sequences, progressing the though line with a slightly hollow subtext. And thirdly, how on earth does someone like Adam bag a girl like Kate ? that was more far fetched than the whole remote control thing.

Overall, though, this is just a brilliant film to watch. Personally speaking, I would define it as the modern day version of ?It?s a Wonderful Life?, with an additional spattering of ?Groundhog Day? and ?Sleeper? for good measure. Plus, in additional to this, I have to confess, the underling message it the thing that moved me the most.

Be good to people ? don?t take others for granted ? live life to the fullest ? and also, please watch this, my favorite parts of the movie, as it?s a blast...

Why Nurses Make The Quickest Lays ? Chateau Heartiste

There?s a good article in the Washington BetaPost written by a hospital internist who laments the growing disconnect between the reality of death and people living in atomized, urban enclaves whose affluence allows them to warehouse their elderly parents into chambers of horrors death?s waiting rooms.

Mass urbanization hasn?t been the only thing to alienate us from the circle of life. Rising affluence has allowed us to isolate senescence. Before nursing homes, assisted-living centers and in-home nurses, grandparents, their children and their grandchildren were often living under the same roof, where everyone?s struggles were plain to see. In 1850,?70 percent of white elderly adults?lived with their children. By 1950, 21 percent of the overall population?lived in multigenerational homes, and today that figure is only 16 percent. Sequestering our elderly keeps most of us from knowing what it?s like to grow old.

This physical and emotional distance becomes obvious as we make decisions that accompany life?s end. Suffering is like a fire: Those who sit closest feel the most heat; a picture of a fire gives off no warmth. That?s why it?s typically the son or daughter who has been physically closest to an elderly parent?s pain who is the most willing to let go. Sometimes an estranged family member is ?flying in next week to get all this straightened out.? This is usually the person who knows the least about her struggling parent?s health; she?ll have problems bringing her white horse as carry-on luggage. This person may think she is being driven by compassion, but a good deal of what got her on the plane was the guilt and regret of living far away and having not done any of the heavy lifting in caring for her parent.

With unrealistic expectations of our ability to prolong life, with death as an unfamiliar and unnatural event, and without a realistic, tactile sense of how much a worn-out elderly patient is suffering, it?s easy for patients and families to keep insisting on more tests, more medications, more procedures.

The human impulse to detach from the specter of death is strong, so it?s understandable people would want to get away from it as much as possible. I have vivid memories of being escorted through an ICU ward, so heavy with the stink and sight of dying, mechanically assisted bodies contorted in pulleys and displayed in giant plastic bubbles, their lesions and bloat and sickly droop mocking the thread of life they cling to, that I nearly choke on the most fleeting recollection and search for an expedient distraction.

So I have to wonder how people who are surrounded by death all day, every day, manage the burden ? families whose old, dying parents live with them, doctors who treat the husks of humans lingering in the limbo between living and the illimitable void. Most condition themselves to it, having honed a preternatural ability to sever their emotions from the constant reminders of mortality that accompany every dying person like a gloomy chaperone.

So what does this have to do with nurses and game, you ask??I have this running compendium in my hed of my lifetime lays, because of all my memories, it?s the ones spent intimately with lovers I strive the hardest to keep well-formed and prevent from dissipating into the murky mists. This is my tribute to their love. Some of these sex memories are technicolor brilliant, some are romantically hazy, some curiously abstract.

Two lays in particular stick out, both with girls who were nurses. And not GP nurses. One was ER, the other worked in a children?s cancer ward. They saw death, the worst kinds of death, on a daily basis. Sex with them was exuberant, unhinged even. There was little foreplay; they couldn?t wait to get their clothes off and my dick inside them. One would impatiently hike her skirt up and drop her panties as soon as I walked through the door, then back up into my daggering manhood, heaving a satisfied sigh upon penetration, like a junkie who just depressed the syringe.

While it was not, qualitatively speaking, the *best* sex I?ve ever had, it was certainly the most frantic, and the fastest from ?hi? to ?slide it in?. Both of these girls banged on the first dates. They were not ones for drawn-out seduction dramas in the bedroom of the LMR variety; kisses always followed couplings.

This is what those in proximity to death do ? they embrace life more fully, and part of that embracing is total sexual abandon. For what besides sex, the generation pool of life, is a bigger middle finger in the face of death? Skydiving while having sex, maybe.

One of these nurses, it should be noted, had a father who was considerably older than her mother. Almost her whole life the looming of her father?s end must have surely weighed on her. Coyness was not part of her vocabulary. Hungry copulation was.

A familiarity with death might put a stop to escalating medical costs as more enlightened people choose to let their old relatives pass into the ether as part of a natural, unimpeded progression. It might reverse demographic decline seen in the form of childlessness, a condition caused in part by insulation from death?s omnipresence among the privileged class which obscures revelation of their finiteness. Familiarity has other benefits: it inculcates a powerful will to live for experience, to grasp that the doorstep of death misses no one, to apprehend that the luxuries of boredom and ennui are the province of the derelict who has fooled himself to believe forever is now.

But my favorite death-accepance benefit: quick lays!
