The resignation of CIA Director David Petraeus, one of the more respected public figures in America after overseeing the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, also placed highly on our list. An FBI investigation revealed that Petraeus was having an affair with his biographer, Paula Broadwell. The story eventually tied in Florida socialite Jilly Kelley (who had received threatening e-mails from Broadwell), a shirtless FBI agent, and Gen. John Allen, who exchanged thousands of e-mails with Kelley.
