E.B. youth wrestlers shine at season-ending tournaments | eb ...

The East Brunswick Wrestling Club (EBWC) completed the 2012-13 with its league tournaments.

EBWC is a recreation-level, youth wrestling program open to kids in grades K-8 from East Brunswick, Milltown, Spotswood and Helmetta.

The Clinic and Future Stars Team has wrapped up its year with the seasonending league tournament in South Brunswick with the following wrestlers earning medals:

? Gold: Kyle Figueroa and Damon Washington;

? Silver: Stephanie Yarnall, Isaiah McFarland, Jackson Bartle, Jakob Cifuentes, Jarred Keith, A.J. Baile, Damien White, James Milligan, Preston Harduby, Peyton Wieczerak, Caden Dowgin, Kyle Zielinski and Sean Gebauer;

? Bronze: Alex Holt, Matthew Ciampa, Gabriel Jimenez, Sterling Bechler, Kyle Sampson, Jesse Beckman, Matthew Minikel and Timothy Yarnall.

The Clinic and Future Stars Team consists of newer kids in grades K-4.

The EBWC ?A? Teams completed its seasons by placing fourth in both the Mid Jersey and Central Jersey league tournaments. These two teams consist of experienced wrestlers in sixth grade and under.

Mid Jersey place-winners were:

? Second: Isaac Holt, Christian Perrine and Damon Washington;

? Fourth: Sean Gebauer and Noah Keith;

? Sixth: Nick Minikel;

? Eighth: James Milligan, Preston Harduby and Shane Havens; The Central Jersey place-winners were:

? Second: Jaeden Kearns, Isaac Holt, A.J. Smith, Nick Minikel and Christian Perrine;

? Fourth: Lorenzo Curcio;

? Sixth: Landon Kearns, Thomas Jaycard, Steven Melillo, Shane Havens and Damon Washington.

The EBWC Senior Team completed their season by winning the Mid-Jersey Senior League Tournament. Head coach Keith Yarnall and assistant Fred Obado brought a team of nine to the league tournament and walked away with five champions, one runner-up, two fourth placers, a sixth-place winner, the tournament?s outstanding wrestler award winner and the team title that was the first in EBWC?s long history. The Senior Division is for seventh- and eighthgraders, yet EBWC fielded a team with four wrestlers in grades 4-6, and it was still able to win the championship.

The team?s individual champions were Isaac Holt, Christian Perrine, Mark Schleifer, Jason Minikel and Stephan Glasgow. Second place went to Al Gleason, fourth went to A.J. Smith and Shea Obado, and sixth went to Damon Washington.

The Most Outstanding Wrestler award went to Mark Schleifer.
